Rosanes steps down as Lideratos president, reflects on leadership in farewell message
By Anyanna Mariae Sabio • July 17, 2025
The Liderato kan Nueva Atenista Student Congress has announced the official resignation of Ianthe Keziah Mae S. Rosanes as President of Liderato kan Nueva Atenista, the student government of Ateneo de Naga University, effective 15 July 2025.
The resignation was formally approved by Speaker of the House Russell Marie B. Infante through Memorandum 2425-29, stating that the decision was made after Rosanes submitted a formal letter of resignation and an executive report citing her intent to pursue other leadership opportunities.
In a farewell message released through the Facebook page of Lideratos, Rosanes reflected on the true meaning of leadership, emphasizing how her term was grounded on the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, or care for the whole person, and how Jesuit formation shaped her as a leader.
“From the very start, we anchored Lideratos in the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis, the care for the whole person. That meant listening not just to the loudest voices, but to the quiet needs, the unseen burdens, and the unspoken concerns of the student body,” she stated.
The former Lideratos President also recalled crises during her term that interrupted their programs, however deepened her understanding of leadership.
“Programs with clear timelines had to be shelved. It was frustrating. But that storm reminded us what leadership demands — not control, but response. Not recognition, but resilience,” she wrote, drawing from the disruption brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Rosanes also addressed the criticisms she received, affirming her stance in speaking out against injustice and rejecting neutrality, declaring that comfort must never come at the cost of conscience. She also call for future leaders to do the same in choosing service over spotlight and principle over popularity—not for legacy, but for conscience.
Her message further underscored that Lideratos is not just a council but a platform for discernment, dialogue, and community action.
“Let Lideratos be known not just as the student government of Ateneo de Naga, but as an ally — of students, of other schools, and of every organization that dares to stand for something greater than itself. Let Lideratos be known not just as a council, but as a student government’s student — always listening, always learning, always standing up,” the statement continued.
With Rosanes’ resignation, the Office of the Lideratos President, through Memorandum No. 32, s. 2024-2025, declared on 16 July 2025 the appointment of Internal Vice President Ma. Deloris Macalino as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Lideratos, effective until a permanent President is duly elected or appointed.
