Unfurled for the first time 126 years ago at the humble setting of then Cavite El Viejo (present-day Kawit, Cavite), the flag raising began to catapult our feet into the promising welcome of rewriting our tale with our bare hands, at last. After chains of risks-takings and volumes of inks to scribe a newborn Philippines one generation after the another, we declared independence from the footprints of the colonialism that enshrouded our homeland and detained our forefathers into slavery within our fences.
