Buklod Atenista, the alliance of Ateneo university student governments in the Philippines, has announced the appointment of a new national convener hailing from Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan.
In a Memorandum No. 40-03 released in 03 July 2024, Josemaria Miguel Gambe officially succeeded as the 38th Buklod Atenista National Convener, following his confirmation during a duly convened hearing on 02 July 2024; his ascent marks the end of term of the 37th Buklod Atenista Permanent Secretariat.
Ma. Erica Orabe, the 37th National Convener, expressed her confidence that under Gambe’s leadership, the alliance is set to establish a stronger foundation and address any trouble that may arise.
“I trust that Mr. Gambe's commitment to the Jesuit ideals of service-Magis will guide him in fulfilling his duties towards God and the needs of the community,” Orabe added.
Furthermore, the former national convener called for continued collaboration and adherence to Jesuit principles, aiming for the betterment and advancement of both the Ateneo institutions and the broader community.
Gambe’s leadership begins at a critical juncture, with significant challenges including redefining the purpose of the alliance and addressing the ultimatum issued by Ateneo de Naga University to leave the alliance if no substantial changes occur, both of which have arisen during the 40th Buklod Atenista National Leaders’ Summit.
